Krishti u Njall! Christ is Risen!

We wish you the joy of Christ’s resurrection! The love of God for His creation and for all of mankind was revealed in the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. It has been a great blessing for us to celebrate these events with the Church of Albania, which has preserved the message of Christ’s resurrection through so many adversities over the past two thousand years.

For Holy Week and Pascha we were at the Church in Shen Vlash where we live and where the seminary is located. However, we also were able to go to the capital Tirana for the Paschal Vespers celebrated by Archbishop Anastasios at the Cathedral of the Resurrection.

We are now teaching classes for the spring semester at the Resurrection Theological Academy. The school has thirty-nine students and offers theological education on an undergraduate level that helps to prepare clergy and workers for the Church’s ministries. Jeffrey continues to teach Church History with the help of an Albanian translator and to work on producing written materials which are translated into Albanian for the students. Caryn is teaching English to the Academy students, and Jeffrey is continuing his Bible Study on the Gospel of John with some of the members of the faculty.

On June 1, leaders and representatives of the Orthodox autocephalous churches will be here for the consecration of the Resurrection Cathedral in Tirana. After this are final exams, followed by graduation. During the summer we will use the break from teaching at the school to more fully concentrate on learning Albanian.

We are very grateful for your support, which allows us to teach here in Albania. Our work is dependent on ongoing monthly donations that are designated to us by name by individuals and parishes through the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC).

Please remember us and the Church here in your prayers.

Yours in Christ,
Jeffrey and Caryn Macdonald
