Deacon Sal was ordained to the Holy Diaconate on December 20, 2009 by His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios the Chief Sheppard of the Metropolis of Boston. He was assigned to remain under the guidance of Fr. Christopher Makiej of Sts. Constantine and Helen Church in Andover, MA until 2018.
He grew up in Tewksbury, Ma and went to college and earned a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from Merrimack College in North Andover MA in 1998. Dn. Sal and his wife Diakonissa (or if you prefer Presvetera) Angela have two sons Andrew and Eli. They moved to Texas in the summer of 2018.
In his secular career Dn. Sal is a Principal in an Electrical Engineering Consulting firm. The firm is called Electrical Systems Engineering Inc. and has clients throughout the country. Dn. Sal is a licensed Professional Electrical Power Engineer in several US states and the firm provides construction drawings to Electrical Contractors, Architects, Owners and Developers in the construction market place. Deacon Sal is also a Master in several Martial Arts. He and his wife Angela, who is also a Martial Arts instructor, personal trainer, and wellness educator, work together in their business Christian Martial Fitness. DN Sal’s Spiritual calling is to serve the Church. He has been the Diaconate Program Director of Outreach for Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (HCHC) in Brookline MA since Feb of 2017. He is an assistant to the Program Director Dr. James Skedros and supports ordained deacons in the GOA, diaconate candidates and their families, as it relates to the Diaconate Program structure. He is the webmaster of the HCHC Diaconate webpage and moderator of the Diaconate list serve. He leads diaconate retreats and events to strengthen diaconate fellowship. He offers educational statistics of the program and its structure to people throughout the country.
Dn. Sal participated in the program from 2007-2009 and received his certificate of completion. From 2009 till today he has continued to volunteer his time, treasure and talent to support the Diaconate Program and its summer sessions held at HCHC in Brookline MA. He attends each year to share with current candidates his diaconate experience, lead breakout sessions, organize guest speakers and fellowship events, and he helps maintain the HCHC Diaconate Program records.
